Pierre Gagnaire

Opened in 2002 as a collaboration between the culinary legend Pierre Gagnaire and restaurateur Mourad Mazouz, sketch has firmly established itself as not only one of London's finest restaurants (The Lecture Room & Library was awarded a third Michelin star in 2020 and has held a Michelin star every year consecutively since 2005 - with two Michelin stars held from 2013 to 2019), but moreover, a destination for food, drink, music and art. From the street, the unsuspecting Victorian London townhouse (formerly the head office for Dior) masks the secret interior where every single inch has been transformed into a decadent wonderland of opulence, even down to the toilets which are so popular they have their own Instagram #!

On the ground floor is the artist conceived gastro-brasserie restaurant, David Shrigley's Gallery serving afternoon tea and dinner. Turner prize nominated and Fourth Plinth commissioned, Shrigley has transformed the Gallery at sketch as part of a long-term programme of artist-conceived restaurants.
Open for afternoon tea and dinner the project follows the huge success of artist Martin Creed’s restaurant commission at sketch in 2012. Crisp and clean with a touch of his signature humour, Shrigley's ceramics work with two Michelin star rated Pierre Gagnaire's food (the stars are for the Lecture Room and Library restaurant upstairs) to reconstruct the tabletop into its own exhibition space.

Awarded Best Chef in the World in 2015, Pierre Gagnaire was at the forefront of fusion cuisine contrasting against the conventions of classic French cooking to create dishes with juxtaposed flavours, textures and ingredients which are visible in his dishes to this day.

Membership benefits are also available in The Lecture Room & Library restaurant at this property. See The Lecture Room & Library for details.
